Israel’s bobsleigh team suspended from Winter Olympics
The Olympic Committee of Israel suspended the national bobsleigh team from the final day of the Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics, Kan News reported Sunday, after one of the athletes falsely claimed illness to enable a substitution.
The athlete later admitted misconduct, prompting officials to void the request. “The Olympic Committee of Israel views any deviation from the principles of fair play with utmost severity and cannot accept improper conduct,” the committee said, adding that the suspension was made with the athletes’ consent.
