MDA tells Israeli public it has enough blood donations after surge of citizens show up to give blood
In the days following the start of Israel's war against Hamas on Oct. 7, Israeli citizens began inundating Magen David Adom’s blood donation stations and hospitals in response to a call for donations.
On Wednesday, MDA issued a statement asking the public not to show up unannounced at this time.
MDA's Blood Services said it has collected and processed some 60,000 units of donated blood and thanked the public for its overwhelming response following the outbreak of the fighting and its then-low blood supply.
MDA currently has enough blood and blood products to supply all hospitals and the IDF Medical Corps and asked that those who are still interested in donating to make appointments on the MDA website.
