Israeli reserve soldiers arrested & indicted for betting on Polymarket with classified information

Several Israelis were indicted for betting on the occurrence of military operations on the “Polymarket” website, police, the defense ministry and the Shin Bet (ISA) intelligence agency announced after a gag order was lifted.

"Several suspects were recently arrested, including a civilian and reservists, on suspicion of placing bets on the 'Polymarket' website regarding the occurrence of military operations. The bets were allegedly based on classified information to which the reservists were exposed by virtue of their military roles," the statement read.

"Following an investigation conducted by [the defense ministry] and the ISA, and after sufficient evidence was consolidated against a civilian and a reservist, the prosecution decided to file criminal indictments against them for serious security offenses, as well as bribery and obstruction of justice.

"The defense establishment emphasizes that engaging in such betting activities based on secret and classified information poses a tangible security risk to IDF operations and to the security of the State of Israel."
