Israeli government meeting moved to underground location amid security concerns

Israel’s government meeting was moved Tuesday morning from the Prime Minister’s Office to an underground location. According to sources, ministers were informed of the new location only around 8:30 a.m., ahead of the meeting at 11 a.m.
The government is expected to extend the state of emergency on the home front until Oct. 20. An explanatory document cited continued missile fire from Iran and Yemen toward countries across the Middle East, as well as uncertainty surrounding the Iranian and Lebanese fronts.
Security officials assess that there remains a “high probability of an attack on the civilian population,” according to the document. Similar language has appeared in previous extensions of the special home-front emergency in recent months.
