Israeli ambassador to UAE: ‘Another country will join Abraham Accords within months’
Yossi Shelley, Israel’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and former director-general of the Prime Minister’s Office, addressed the expansion of the Abraham Accords on Tuesday, saying that another country could join the agreements within a few months, possibly Kuwait.
“I estimate we’re talking about within four to six months,” Shelley said in an interview with Kan News’ international affairs program on Kan Reshet Bet.
“We may be in for a surprise. I know everyone is working on it,” he said. “I think, based on my interpretation of what I’m learning from academia, that the Kuwaitis are also beginning to understand that something has changed, and perhaps this will be the next breakthrough.”
“We are working on closer cooperation with the United Arab Emirates,” Shelley added.
