Israeli activists cross border into Syria, IDF returns them to Israel
IDF forces identified Israeli civilians crossing the border fence into Syrian territory last night, the IDF Spokesperson stated, adding that they were quickly brought back safely into Israel. The civilians were then taken into custody.
“The IDF strongly condemns the incident and emphasizes that it is a serious event constituting a criminal offense that endangers the civilians and the IDF forces,” the statement said.
Kan News reported that the individuals were part of the movement “Pioneers of Bashan,” a Biblical name for the region of southern Syria.
