Israel weighs operation in Lebanon to neutralize Hezbollah threat

Israel is considering a military operation in Lebanon to neutralize the Hezbollah threat, Kan News reported Friday, citing sources familiar with the discussions. So far, the IDF has relied mainly on airstrikes.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu raised the issue with U.S. President Donald Trump during their meeting in Florida. Israeli officials say Hezbollah has partially rebuilt its capabilities under the ceasefire, while Beirut lacks the ability to curb the group.

According to the report, the Trump administration has not ruled out Israeli action but asked Netanyahu to delay a decision to allow further diplomacy with Lebanon. Separately, Asharq Al-Awsat reported that Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey warned Hezbollah to disarm to avoid an Israeli strike, a message Lebanese officials described as a “last chance.”
