Israel urges countries worldwide to bolster security at Hanukkah events
Israel has asked countries worldwide, with an emphasis on European states, to step up security around Hanukkah events amid concerns over copycat attacks following the deadly shooting in Australia.
Security officials warned that the coming days, which include public Hanukkah celebrations as well as Christian events such as Christmas markets and New Year’s festivities, could present potential targets for attackers.
On Sunday, Israel’s National Security Council issued an advisory urging Israelis abroad to avoid unsecured mass gatherings, including events at Chabad centers.
