Israel stresses: All aid convoys were checked before entering Gaza
All the trucks carrying aid from Egypt into the Gaza Strip have been checked for contraband before passing the Rafah Border Crossing, a spokesman for the Israeli government stressed, contradicting reports.
“All supplies were inspected before entering Gaza. Israel has the ability to make sure nothing brought in that was not approved,” spokesman Eylon Levy said in a press briefing on Sunday.
While “Israel wants aid” to reach Gaza, “we will not let that aid be diverted to Hamas,” he stressed.
Egyptian authorities are coordinating the examination of the aid trucks with Israel, the Times of Israel reported.
