Israel set to phase out rooftop solar water heaters
Israel’s Energy Ministry announced a major shift in home water-heating technology that is expected to impact household electricity use, the urban landscape, and living costs.
After nearly 50 years, traditional solar water heaters are set to be phased out in favor of a new system combining heat pumps with solar panels, which officials say is more efficient and cost-effective. The upgrade is expected to cost households about NIS 4,500 and lead to a significant reduction in energy expenses.
