Israel reportedly supports new militias operating in Gaza
Israel has expanded support for armed Gaza militias opposed to Hamas, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.
The report said the assistance includes drone cover, intelligence sharing, and logistical aid such as weapons and food, and that some wounded fighters were airlifted to Israel for treatment. The militias are estimated to number hundreds to thousands, with some operating from the Israeli-controlled “yellow line” area.
Militia leader Hussam al-Astal told the paper he receives no Israeli military or intelligence support, aside from food, and said his forces act independently against Hamas.
