Israel offers Colombia 'any possible assistance' after 7.4 magnitude earthquake
Israel offered Colombia any assistance necessary after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit the country today.
"We are following the reports on the earthquake that struck Colombia with concern," said Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, who had visited the country just last week to attend the inauguration of new pro-Israel President, Abelardo de la Espriella.
"I offered my colleague, the Foreign Minister of Colombia Omar Bula, any assistance that Israel can provide. Israel is prepared to assist Colombia as much as required. My thoughts and prayers are with the Colombian people during this difficult time," Sa'ar said.
Colombia's geological service said the magnitude of the quake was at 6.6, with an epicentre 100 km underground in the west of the country, while the American USGS gave the magnitude as 7.4. The scope of the possible casualties and destruction was not immediately clear.
