Israel and Lebanon set to resume US-mediated talks in Washington

Israeli and Lebanese negotiators are set to meet in Washington on Wednesday for a new round of talks under U.S. sponsorship.

According to American sources cited by the Lebanese newspaper Nidaa Al Watan, Lebanon’s sovereignty is at a critical juncture and faces threats not only from external actors but also from what they described as “Iranian Hezbollah.”

The sources warned that the stakes are high, arguing that Lebanon must either assert state authority and pave the way toward peace or remain “hostage to the forces that most undermine stability in the region.”
