Israel jails IDF soldier over firing bursts toward Gaza
An IDF soldier from the Golani Brigade who uploaded a video to his Instagram account showing himself firing bursts of gunfire toward Gaza was sentenced today (Wednesday) to 20 days in military prison. His continued service as a combat soldier will be reviewed.
The IDF stated that “this is a serious incident that is inconsistent with IDF values and with the standards expected of soldiers and commanders.”
The video spread on social media and garnered millions of views after being amplified by a pro-Palestinian account that monitors IDF soldiers’ social media posts.
Following the publication of the video, the IDF Spokesperson said: “The soldier documented in the video acted contrary to regulations, firing in an unprofessional manner that does not comply with orders. The incident will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate steps will be taken against the soldier involved based on the findings.”
