Israel ‘disappointed‘ with Chinese statements about Hamas massacre

Israel has told China it is “disappointed” with its statements regarding the terror attack by Hamas, the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated on Friday.

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen ordered to relay Israel’s disappointment over the Chinese statements “in which there is no clear and unequivocal condemnation of the terrible massacre carried out by the terrorist organization Hamas against innocent civilians and kidnapping dozens of them to Gaza,” to China’s Middle East envoy Zhai Jun.

“There is no element to Israel's right to defend itself and its citizens, a basic right of any sovereign state that was attacked in an unprecedented manner and with cruelty that has no place in human society,” Deputy Director for Asia and the Pacific at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Rafi Harpaz, told Jun.

The Foreign Ministry also stated that a diplomat in Israel’s embassy in Beijing was attacked on Friday outside of the embassy and is being treated in a hospital. The motive for the attack is unknown.
