Israel to expand rehabilitation for disabled veterans

The Israeli government is seeking to fast-track a decision adopting recommendations to strengthen services for disabled veterans, the Prime Minister's Office said Wednesday.

The proposal, which is expected to be brought before the cabinet in the coming days, would implement a series of measures aimed at improving rehabilitation, treatment, and support for disabled veterans of the IDF and security forces.

According to the statement, the initiative reflects the government's shared commitment to improving support for veterans, "whose great contribution to the security of the State of Israel is manifested in a heavy personal price."

The move follows a sharp rise in the number of wounded since the attacks of Oct. 7, 2023, increasing pressure to expand funding and revise disability eligibility.
