IRGC announces closure of Strait of Hormuz, threatens further attacks
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed “until further notice,” citing what it described as U.S. military intervention in the region.
The IRGC also claimed that a vessel which refused to follow its instructions and switched off its identification systems was struck by warning fire and detained.
The statement further warned that if the United States or Israel responds militarily, Iran will launch attacks against additional “enemy bases” across the region.
