Iraq alarmed by US withdrawal from Syria, warns of ISIS comeback
Iraqi officials voiced concern on Wednesday over the U.S. withdrawal from key bases in Syria, Kan News reported.
American forces have reportedly left Al-Tanf and Al-Shaddadi, raising fears in Baghdad of border instability and a possible ISIS resurgence.
U.S. officials told the Wall Street Journal that about 1,000 troops are being withdrawn from Syria, with a full exit expected in the coming months. The move is described as unrelated to other regional deployments and tied to greater Syrian responsibility for counterterrorism.
