Iranian state television hacked, screens broadcast pro-protest messages

Iran’s state television was briefly hacked Sunday, airing opposition messages and recorded statements by exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi, according to the Iran International–based channel Manoto, which broadcasts anti-regime content from abroad.

Social media reports said the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) signal was disrupted shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tehran time for about 10 minutes, during which protest symbols and messages supporting nationwide demonstrations against the ayatollah regime were shown.

The broadcast reportedly included calls urging security forces to side with the people and support the push for freedom. Opposition-linked sources described the incident as a deliberate breach of the broadcasting system. No official response from Iranian authorities had been issued as of publication.
