IDF: UNIFIL soldier was killed by Hezbollah grenade in southern Lebanon
A United Nations peacekeeper who died in southern Lebanon overnight was killed by a Hezbollah strike, the Israel Defense Forces announced.
"Overnight, the IDF identified several launches in the area of Al-Qatrani carried out by the Hezbollah terrorist organization that landed inside a UNIFIL force position in the Dibbine area in southern Lebanon. As a result of the launches, a UN personnel member was killed, and two others were injured," the IDF said.
"An examination of the launch trajectory clearly indicates that the fire was carried out by the Hezbollah terrorist organization."
Earlier, UNIFIL, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, said that one of its peacekeepers was killed and two others wounded in a mortar attack, without mentioning who launched the strike.
