IDF: Terror groups work to embed themselves among civilians in Judea & Samaria
The IDF said its troops confiscated more than 240 firearms and many additional weapons in Judea and Samaria since the start of the year, highlighting the increasing attempts of terror groups "to establish themselves within civilian areas and exploit civilian infrastructure for terrorist purposes."
In addition to weapons, troops have seized "lathes used to manufacture weapons, ammunition, and additional terrorist equipment," the IDF said, citing an incident where soldiers "located ammunition for both long-barreled and short-barreled weapons hidden inside a well-known hardware store in the city of Bethlehem" during an operation in April.
In another recent example in Nablus, "IDF troops located a lathe used to manufacture weapons in the center of a civilian building." The owners of both sites were arrested.
"The IDF and security forces will continue operating to thwart terrorism throughout Judea and Samaria in order to safeguard the security of Israeli civilians," the military vowed.
