IDF says Hamas conducting torture, interrogations at Khan Yunis hospital
The IDF said Thursday that intelligence indicates Hamas is conducting interrogations and torture at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis.
“Nasser Hospital continues to serve as a central military infrastructure for the Hamas terrorist organization in the southern Gaza Strip,” the statement said. “Patients and hospital staff are witnessing the permanent presence of Hamas terrorists, some of them masked, in various areas of the hospital compound.”
The IDF said Hamas’ use of the hospital instills fear and endangers patients, healthcare providers and medical staff, while adding that military use of hospitals constitutes a violation of international law.
The IDF’s warning that Hamas is seeking to enforce its rule through intimidation, interrogations and torture comes months after a UN report in June found that Hamas was controlling Gaza through murder, torture and “fear-based” rule.
