IDF reportedly changes 'rules of engagement' in Judea & Samaria in response to threats
According to a report in Israel Hayom news, Israel Defense Forces has changed the rules of engagement for IDF and Border Police soldiers working at the security fence.
Due to the current situation, and the desire to prevent an escalation in Judea and Samaria, internationally known as the West Bank, the IDF has temporarily changed to rules regarding suspects approaching the security fence.
Previously, suspects approaching the fence were warned via several non-lethal means to retreat from the fence.
Israel Hayom reports that an unnamed IDF source said soldiers have now been instructed to regard anyone approaching the security fence as an active threat and are have been given approval to use of lethal force.
The instruction applies to suspects approaching the security fence but not the security checkpoints at the crossings.
