IDF ordered to suspend select operations pending Netanyahu’s US return
Israel’s political leadership has instructed the IDF to suspend certain operational activities until Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returns from his visit to the United States, Kan News reported Monday, citing concerns about unwanted escalation while Netanyahu meets with U.S. President Donald Trump.
During Netanyahu’s absence, Justice Minister Yariv Levin will serve as acting prime minister, while Defense Minister Israel Katz will be authorized to convene the security cabinet if needed. Netanyahu is expected to remain in the U.S. for about five days, with a limited schedule that includes meetings with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and evangelical leaders.
