IDF officer killed by Hezbollah gunman in southern Lebanon
Cpt. David Hazutt of the IDF's Golani Brigade Combat Team fell in battle overnight, the IDF announced. Hazutt is the first casualty in Lebanon since Beirut and Jerusalem signed a deal on Friday.
According to Army Radio, Hazutt was killed by a Hezbollah gunman while entering a suspicious site in the Deir Siran area. Another soldier was lightly wounded in the incident.
The gunman was reportedly not seized, and Israeli forces launched searches for him while striking several targets in the area.
