IDF must maintain 'readiness for a surprise war', says IDF Maj-Gen Bluth after snap inspection

“The baseline situation we must prepare for is readiness for a surprise war,” the chief of the IDF's Central Command, Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, said after a snap inspection in three battalions under his command on Tuesday.

“We are required to maintain a high level of readiness and alertness, while also making use of the time to strengthen our professional foundations as an army, reinforce culture, norms, and our operational backbone," said Bluth.

The inspection was carried out as part of the process to learn the lessons from the events of October 7, and examined the level of readiness, the implementation of procedures and orders, as well as the competence of the units and personnel in dealing with operational challenges in both routine and emergency situations, the military said.

Bluth probed three battalions operating under three different brigades and across two regional divisions, starting with an examination of base defense.

He then examined logistics and infrastructure, human resources, medical services, civil defense, safety, intelligence, and additional fields.
