IDF kills Hamas intel commander, demolishes tunnel in Gaza Strip
The IDF said its troops killed a commander in Hamas's Internal Security apparatus and demolished an additional tunnel route as part of its operations in the Gaza Strip over the past days.
The Head of Hamas' Internal Security in the Central Gaza Strip was killed in a joint strike with the Shin Bet. The apparatus "is a central and clandestine body within Hamas [and] collected intelligence for senior Hamas officials, supporting their decision-making and facilitating the planning and execution of terrorist attacks against the State of Israel."
Meanwhile, troops deployed to the northern Gaza Strip continued clearing operations to demolish the terror group's network of underground tunnel routes. Recently, another underground tunnel "stretching hundreds of meters" was destroyed in the area, the IDF said.
"IDF troops under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat," the military stressed.
