IDF general: Threat of Gaza invasion now 'impossible', IDF holds over 60% of Gaza Strip
IDF Central Command chief Maj.-Gen. Avi Bluth said that the threat of a land-based invasion from Gaza has been ruled out for now.
Speaking to troops at the Gaza border, Bluth said, "The threat of a raid from Gaza—as it occurred three years ago—is not possible. More than 60% of the Strip is in our hands. There is a security buffer for the Gaza border communities held by two divisions."
However, he also acknowledged that "the challenges still exist. Hamas is still in control, and the murderous organization's residual capabilities remain, and its vision of destroying Israel has not changed. Our work is not finished."
