IDF detains dozens of civilians trying to cross into Syrian territory
Israeli troops detained dozens of civilians who tried to cross the border into Syrian territory late on Sunday evening.
"IDF soldiers were dispatched to the scene, where they acted to prevent the civilians from crossing the border and detained them. The detained civilians were transferred to the Israel Police for further handling. The IDF strongly condemns the attempted border crossing and emphasizes that this is a serious incident and a criminal offense that endangers both IDF soldiers and civilians," the IDF said.
According to Kan News, the civilians were activists from the "Pioneers of the Bashan" movement, a group advocating the creation of Jewish settlements in the IDF-held security zone on Syrian territory along the border.
