IDF confiscates reservist’s weapon after shooting in Palestinian village and vehicle ramming
The IDF said on Thursday it confiscated the weapon of a reservist who opened fire in a Palestinian village and later ran over a Palestinian man who was praying by the roadside. The soldier’s service was suspended, with the army saying he acted in civilian clothing and “in a serious deviation from his authority.”
Both incidents were filmed and circulated on social media. According to initial findings, the events began after stones were thrown at a Jewish shepherd, prompting a call to the army. Local defense forces arrived, and one soldier fired toward Palestinians. Shortly afterward, the same reservist was documented driving an ATV and striking a Palestinian man praying by the road.
The IDF said the shooting incident will be investigated internally, while the alleged ramming is being examined in a criminal probe.
