Huckabee, Sa’ar sign agreement for permanent US Embassy site in Jerusalem

U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar signed a lease agreement this week allocating land for a permanent U.S. Embassy compound in Jerusalem.

At the signing ceremony, Huckabee said it was “another historic day for the U.S.-Israel relationship,” describing the acquisition of the site as “deepening and expanding our presence in Jerusalem – the eternal capital of Israel" on the eve of America’s 250th anniversary.

Sa’ar praised the 2017 U.S. recognition of Jerusalem and the subsequent embassy relocation as “an act of historic justice,” adding that the diplomatic milestone is now “even more firmly anchored.”

“This agreement is about far more than the allocation of land. It is a recognition of history and a declaration of our shared future,” he said.
