Houthis claim attack on oil tanker off Saudi coast
Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility overnight for an attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Saudi Arabia, alleging the vessel had "violated the maritime blockade" they imposed on the kingdom.
Earlier this week, the Houthis announced the start of a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia, warning that any Saudi vessel or ship bound for the kingdom would be targeted. In response, the Saudi-led Arab coalition said it had begun taking military measures to protect commercial shipping transiting the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
