High Court rejects petitions against Zini’s appointment as head of Israel’s domestic security intelligence
Israel’s Supreme Court on Sunday rejected petitions against the appointment of Maj. Gen. David Zini as head of the Shin Bet.
The decision was reached by a majority of Deputy Court President Noam Sohlberg and Justice David Mintz, overruling a dissent by Court President Yitzhak Amit, who argued that further review by the Grunis Committee was warranted.
The justices’ disagreement centered on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s appointment process, not on Zini’s suitability for the role.
