Herzog’s Selichot prayer: ‘Greater love of Israel among us’
Israeli President Isaac Herzog called for greater love and unity among Israelis on Tuesday, saying that was the focus of his prayers during Selichot at the Western Wall.
In a post on X, Herzog invoked the destruction of the Jewish Temple, which he said occurred “because of baseless hatred,” and stated that he prayed “for greater love of Israel among us.”
“After three years of war and heroism, the time has come for us to remember what unites us, and to understand that we are all one people, a singular and special people,” he said.
Herzog added that he prayed for the peace of Israel, the safety and good name of IDF soldiers and security forces, the recovery of the wounded, and comfort for bereaved families.
“May all the House of Israel be inscribed for a good year,” he concluded.
