Hamas fears collapse of Iran’s regime: “It would be a devastating blow”

Hamas is closely monitoring the ongoing protests in Iran, amid growing concern that the weakening or collapse of the ayatollah regime would deal the group a severe blow, according to a Palestinian source cited Tuesday by Kan News.

The source said Hamas views Iran as the “last fortress of the axis of resistance,” following Hezbollah’s setbacks in its war with Israel and the fall of the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. A collapse in Tehran, the source warned, would be devastating not only financially but, more critically, militarily.

Iran has long been Hamas’ main backer, serving as the primary sponsor of its military wing, whose annual budget stood at about $100 million prior to the October 7 attack.
