Gulf states press Iraqi PM to disarm Iran-backed militias
Gulf Arab states are urging Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to move forward with plans to disarm Iran-backed militias, as regional pressure on Baghdad intensifies.
Al-Zaidi is currently visiting the United States, where American officials are also pressing Iraq to address the issue. Backed by both Washington and Gulf capitals, the Iraqi prime minister has reportedly set an ambitious target of the end of September to complete the disarmament process.
