Good chance for ‘significant’ deal to free hostages through Qatar mediation as ground offensive looms
Senior Israeli officials say there is a “considerable chance for a significant deal” to release large numbers of hostages currently being held by the Hamas terror organization in the Gaza Strip, Israel's Ynet news reported late on Wednesday evening.
The deal would focus on the release of children, women and elderly people captured by Hamas during its attack against Israel on Oct. 7 and is being mediated by Qatar.
The Israeli officials added that such a deal would have to be completed soon, as Israel’s patience to begin a ground offensive into Gaza was wearing thin and this would decrease the chances for a hostage deal.
