Gaza food prices fall sharply amid surge in humanitarian assistance

The cost of living in Gaza has fallen sharply since the end of the war, as prices of basic goods continue to drop amid a surge in humanitarian aid and commercial supplies, residents told Kan News.

The steepest decline was in flour, which fell from about NIS 160 per kilogram at the height of the war to roughly NIS 3 today. Prices of other staples also dropped sharply, including rice, sugar, cooking oil, meat, chicken and eggs.

The improvement follows a new agreement allowing about 4,200 trucks per week into Gaza, operated by the UN, international organizations and private traders.
