First of 6 new Israeli Air Force tanker planes completes maiden flight
Ahead of its delivery to the Israeli Air Force in approximately one month, one of six new Boeing KC-46 tanker aircraft has successfully completed its maiden flight in the United States, the Defense Ministry annoucned.
Tanker aircraft enable Israeli fighter jets to significantly extend their operational range and have seen heavy use in fighting against the Iranian regime, as well as the Yemeni Houthi terrorists in recent years.
"The tanker aircraft – designated 'Gideon' in Hebrew – will be equipped with Israeli systems and adapted to the operational requirements of the Israeli Air Force, enabling it to extend operational range and maintain air superiority across all theaters," the ministry added.
