Ethiopian FM meets Israeli FM in Jerusalem as ties warm amid Somaliland recognition
Israeli and Ethiopian Foreign Ministers met in Jerusalem yesterday ahead of the 4th Israel-Ethiopia Political Dialogue, to be hosted in the city today. “We view Ethiopia as a long-term strategic partner and we will further strengthen ties. We discussed mutual challenges in our regions,” Israeli FM Gideon Sa’ar shared on X.
The meeting comes amid warming relations following Israel’s recognition of Somaliland. Ethiopia, a landlocked country, has reached agreements with Somaliland in recent years seeking access to the Red Sea through its territory.
