Israeli Navy elite unit captures senior Hamas commander in battle
A senior commander in the Hamas terror group was captured by the Israeli Navy’s elite Shayetet 13 commando unit, an IDF spokesperson announced on Sunday evening.
The Hamas member was identified as Muhammad Abu Ghali, the deputy commander of the southern division of the Hamas naval force. No further details as to the circumstances of the capture were given.
“The suspect is currently being held and interrogated by the defense establishment,” the IDF stated.
Since the surprise invasion by Hamas on Saturday morning, heavy fighting has continued in at least six Israeli settlements near the Gaza border.
