Electric car sales surpass gasoline in Israel for first time in 2025

Israel’s auto market sees sharp shifts with several established brands losing market share while Chinese manufacturers posted strong gains. Alongside Toyota and Hyundai, China’s Chery — including its Jaecoo and Omoda brands — has entered the top tier of sellers.

The market now features over 80 brands and more than 1,000 models, with additional brands expected soon.

In 2025, Israel sold more electric and hybrid vehicles than gasoline cars for the first time, accelerating the decline of petrol-powered vehicles.

However, congestion worsened: about 100,000 cars were retired, while nearly 300,000 new vehicles joined the roads.
