Building collapse in Gaza City overnight kills 16
Palestinian media reported the collapse of a building in Gaza City overnight, which housed dozens of families at the time of its collapse.
The building, which was known to be damaged from previous Israeli airstrikes during the Gaza War, collapsed suddenly overnight, killing 16 people, according to Palestinian media.
The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said the dead included 12 women and children, and was expected to rise as volunteers recover more bodies from the wreckage.
The collapse shows the need for reconstruction in the Strip, which has been delayed by Hamas’ unwillingness to disarm according to the terms of the Gaza Peace Deal, which calls for reconstruction after the demilitarization of the enclave.
