Border Police officer searched for after entering Palestinian’s car — later identified as her partner
Israeli security forces launched a search Thursday evening after contact was lost with a Border Police officer who entered a vehicle driven by a Palestinian near the Elias Junction, close to Kiryat Arba.
After several hours, it emerged that the officer had voluntarily entered Area A, in violation of the law, to visit her Palestinian partner in the city of Yatta near Hebron. Security officials coordinated with Palestinian counterparts, and the partner later returned her safely to Israeli forces outside the city.
In a separate incident, Civil Administration forces rescued an ultra-Orthodox Israeli who entered the city of Nablus without coordination to pray at Joseph’s Tomb after taking a wrong turn.
