Back from injury, Israel’s Deni Avdija leads Portland in win over Philadelphia
Israeli basketball star Deni Avdija returned from a lower-back strain and recorded 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in Portland’s 135–118 win over Philadelphia on Monday.
Avdija made sports history on Feb. 1, becoming the first Israeli player chosen to participate in the prestigious NBA All-Star Game, which will be held on Feb. 15 in Los Angeles.
Avdija’s selection for the All-Star game cements his status as the best Israeli basketball player in the country’s history.
