Australia probes whether flydubai co-pilot was radicalized while in country
Australian authorities are investigating whether a flydubai co-pilot accused of attacking a colleague in the cockpit was radicalized while living in Australia on a student visa.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) said a counterterrorism team is examining Australian links to the pilot, identified by three sources familiar with the matter as Hamam al-Hammami.
The alleged attack occurred aboard a flydubai flight carrying 174 people to Tel Aviv. During the incident, the aircraft plunged nearly 14,000 feet (4,267 meters) in less than 30 seconds before diverting to Tabuk in northwestern Saudi Arabia for an emergency landing.
