Arab victims’ families block major Tel Aviv highway over crime in Arab society
Dozens of activists from the “Standing Together” movement, joined by bereaved families from Israel’s Arab community, blocked the Ayalon Highway southbound on Sunday in protest against the government.
The demonstrators halted traffic and unfurled signs, causing major congestion. Organizers said the protest was aimed at highlighting what they called the government’s failure to address rampant violence and crime in Arab communities, and to demand immediate action by the government and police to stop the killings.
Standing Together said the blockade was intended to force attention on personal security in the Arab sector, calling on authorities to crack down on protection rackets and organized crime.
