Arab municipal leaders call for general strike today as deaths exceed 160
Arab-Israeli leaders are calling for a general strike on Tuesday to protest the current crime wave responsible for claiming more than 160 lives in Israel's Arab sector.
Strike organizers are also demanding that the government establish an emergency committee to deal with the issue of violent crime.
The strike, which is only scheduled to take place during morning hours, will include local businesses, municipal offices and educational institutions.
According to local news sites, students have been asked to participate in a protest convoy during the strike.
