Aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford spotted off Crete on way to Middle East
The American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest carrier in the world, was spotted off the coast of Crete on its way to reinforce US forces in the Middle East amid tensions with Iran.
Footage circulating on social media and confirmed by Reuters showed the carrier in Crete’s Souda Bay, near a US Naval Support Activity base.
US President Donald Trump ordered the carrier, and its strike group usually consisting of at least one cruiser, two destroyers or frigates, as well as logistics and supply ships, to the Middle East earlier this month.
