After meeting Netanyahu, designated Gaza Peace Council chief visits Palestinian Authority

Nikolay Mladenov is visiting Ramallah on Friday for meetings with senior Palestinian Authority officials, a diplomatic source said. Mladenov is expected to serve as director-general of President Donald Trump’s Peace Council.

On Thursday, Mladenov met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior Israeli officials ahead of the next phase of Trump’s plan. Netanyahu reiterated that Hamas must disarm and that the Gaza Strip be demilitarized under the president’s 20-point framework.

Netanyahu returned last week from talks with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago, where the sides agreed to advance Phase Two, including reopening the Rafah Crossing and moving forward with plans for a “green city” in Gaza without Hamas or Israel Defense Forces presence.
